About Athens, GA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Athens is a consolidated city-county in Georgia, and it is found in the northeastern portion of the state. As of 2010, approximately 115,500 people called this community home, making it the sixth largest city in the state by population. The University of Georgia, which is the flagship public research university in the state, is found here and has contributed to the growth of the community.  Athens is home to a variety of young technology companies, including Cogent Education, Roundsphere, and Doceb, as well as more established organizations like Digital Insight and Peachtree Medical Billing.

Athens is known for its contemporary art, eclectic nightlife, and antebellum architecture, making it a popular destination for visitors. Nature lovers may like to check out the State Botanical Garden of Georgia or Bear Hollow Zoo, and sports fans may prefer to check out a Georgia Bulldogs football game at Sanford Stadium. The Georgia Museum of Art and the Georgia Theater are popular attractions for art lovers of all varieties, and other interesting attractions in the area include historical sites like the Tree That Owns Itself and the Double Barreled Cannon.

Athens is situated with a humid subtropical climate zone, resulting in varied weather conditions throughout the year. During the summer months, conditions are hot and humid, and it is also the rainiest time of the year. Temperatures reach average daily highs in the 90s, and when combined with high humidity, it will feel even warmer. Residents will need to have access to a properly-serviced central air conditioning unit to stay comfortable throughout the season.

The spring and autumn months tend to be warm and pleasant, but conditions will cool down into the 50s during the winter. Snow is rare, but overnight lows do fall below freezing periodically. A heat pump or furnace will keep residents warm during this season and will also protect plumbing and pipes from freeze-related damage.
